Hello and Welcome to How About A Story the PopIN Edition, this is Yzaura. I am currently gearing things up for the fall and thought now would be a great time for us to play catch up. If you didn't know How About A Story has made a year on PodBean telling stories. Now this has been a personal project of mine discovering voice over narration and just putting a little bit of myself out into the world. So After a year what have I learned you might ask? A lot! A lot about editing, mixing arranging, executing, marketing but most of all about connecting. Not only to work that I am doing but to those who take the time to appreciate the work. In celebration of Juneteenth and freedom for all I would like to uplift Josephine Baker. She was a remarkable human who fled a world the US that oppressed her and turned her life into a beacon for humanity. Josephine was a remarkable performer she was a civil rights activist and played an essential role for the french during WW2. I have taken her words from the past and created this speech. Her words are powerful and still relevant today. Join me as we enter into Josephine Bakers world of words these are her most famous quotes.

These last few days have been intense. The pandemic is still in full effect. We now have civil upheaval entering center stage. We need to be on the side of change. Black Lives Matter. I have turned inward. My brain has been on overload. I have thinking about our history and how things have changed and how they have not. I've been thinking about those who stood up in the past and how they would stand today. How they would be with us now and how they are with us now. So I give my voice in the only way I know how. Maybe by voicing the voices of the past we will feel them joining us and their strength will empower us.
This is a poem by Paul Laurence Dunbar named Sympathy. Paul was an American poet, novelist, and playwright of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in Dayton Ohio to parents who were enslaved in Kentucky before the American Civil War.
